An Incredibly Brief History... with more to come
The Illawarra Alpine Club was established on 18th July 1961. The first annual general meeting was held on 16th October 1961 and the club was officially registered on 28th December the same year.
The foundation Committee placed high importance on low-cost, adequately comfortable accommodation so that young families could afford to participate in the sport. The lodge was officially opened on Saturday 16th June 1962 by Neville Gare, the first Superintendent of Kosciousko State Park.
The first President of Illawarra Alpine Club was Pat Edmondson
